Panagiotis Karkazis is Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Engineering and Computer Engineering at the School of Engineering of the University of Western Attica. He received his degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technological Institute of Piraeus in 1999 and MSc in Electronic Communication and Electronic Communications from Kingston University, UK in 2005. During the period 2009-2014 he completed his Ph.D. thesis entitled "Design, Development and Implementation of Trusted and Energy-aware Routing Protocols in Wireless Sensor Networks" at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Technical University of Crete. He has extensive experience as a Software Engineer for Embedded Systems in the telecommunications industry (R&D). Moreover, he is the director of the scientific laboratory Industrial Information Systems Lab and he has participated, as a principal researcher, in many National and European research projects in the fields of Embedded Systems, IoT, Cloud Computing, and SDN/NFV. He has a significant number of publications in scientific journals and conferences.
